Nubco’s Impactful Presence at the Tas TAFE Mental Health Expo
24th Oct 2024
On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Nubco had the privilege of participating in the Tas TAFE Mental Health Expo at the Alanvale Campus in northern Tasmania. This event is a unique opportunity for businesses and organisations to not only showcase their offerings but to also promote mental health awareness and well-being in trade-related industries. We were delighted to join forces with some of our key suppliers – Milwaukee, Makita, Kincrome, Dewalt, Airco, Otter, GearWrench, Crescent, and Ox Group – to bring a wide range of tools and products to the students and staff of Tas TAFE.
Now, in our second year of participation, we were especially excited to support the vocational and trade students by providing hands-on exposure to high-quality tools and equipment that they may use in their careers. Students and teachers from the automotive, construction, metals, electrotechnology, and horticulture programs visited our display, exploring products designed to meet the demands of their future professions.
The turnout at the event was truly remarkable. Teachers and students from various workshops flocked to our display, eagerly engaging with the extensive range of tools and chatting with Nubco staff and our suppliers. Our team and partners were thrilled to answer questions and offer insights, encouraging students to handle and test some of the equipment. Our suppliers’ presence made it possible for students to directly learn about product features, maintenance tips, and best practices straight from industry experts, helping them get the most out of their education and practice.
One of the highlights of the event was the barbecue we organised. It became a central hub of activity, offering a relaxed space where attendees could enjoy a meal while networking with our team, industry suppliers, and fellow students. This not only fostered a friendly atmosphere but also allowed students and teachers to feel more comfortable asking questions and discussing the trade.
While our focus was on showcasing tools and equipment, we were equally proud to be part of a larger event focused on mental health. We believe it is essential to provide young tradespeople with both the physical tools for their professions and the mental health resources they may need as they navigate demanding industries. The event featured multiple mental health services, encouraging students and teachers alike to prioritize well-being, stress management, and resilience. We saw many attendees engaging in the mental health booths, which was inspiring and reaffirmed the importance of this expo’s mission.
Reflecting on our second year at the Tas TAFE Mental Health Expo, we are grateful for the opportunity to support the students and staff at Tas TAFE. We’d like to extend our thanks to all of our participating suppliers – Milwaukee, Makita, Kincrome, Dewalt, Airco, Otter, GearWrench, Crescent, and Ox Group – for making this experience both enjoyable and valuable. By partnering together, we not only showcased essential tools but also reinforced the importance of mental health and well-being within trade industries.
As we look forward to future events, we remain committed to empowering the next generation of tradespeople in Tasmania. It’s our mission to support their journey through industry-leading products and unwavering advocacy for mental health in the workplace.
